A graduate of the North Carolina State University School of Design, Jim began in the furniture industry as a product developer for Stendig and then Brayton International. He started his independent design firm in 1994, concentrating primarily on seating design for the office, hospitality and healthcare markets. Working from his studio in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Jim has designed product for HBF, KI/AGI, Patrician, Paoli, Quaker and now Sterling Tree Studio. While Clockwork's relationship with Sterling Tree Studio was forged in the Spring of 2009, the firm was founded by Christian Arnold and Neil Sommers in 2004 as a design studio concentrating in architecture, interior design, branding and industrial design. Each of Clockwork's designers brings unique talents, ranging from fine art painting and sculpting to welding and carpentry. This diverse point of view yields unexpected approaches and innovative solutions.
